VSZ takes data from several sources:

• Train passage schedules (and their modifications) are supplied by the Belgian railway company.

• Tidal tables are provided as spreadsheets and are imported periodically.

• The network definition is imported from the NVZ operated GIS system (GML2 files).

• VSZ communicates with the NVZ operated REMARCC II system that manages a central vessel database. Official ship data are loaded from REMARCC. VSZ operators can enter new ship data that are submitted to REMARCC as a proposal for update.

  The vessel's nautical characteristics are loaded from REMARCC (length, width, maximal and minimal speed). Actual draught and height are entered when requesting the traffic schedule.

• In 2006 Q2 a module accepting ERI messages is being integrated. ERI voyage notifications from external sources are accepted and used to prepare traffic schedule requests that are completed and approved by an operator.
